Biography

Jenell Renee Ellison, Esq. is a Brooklyn native who has always had a passion for law and litigation. After graduating from law school, Jenell began her career at the Kings County District Attorney's office as an Assistant District Attorney for the Red Zone, then moved on to the Department of Correction as an Agency Attorney for the Trials and Litigation Division. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Jenell began her legal journey with a clear focus on developing both litigation and analytical skills, gaining exposure to the inner workings of the legal system through hands-on experience in legal research, drafting, and case preparation. Over time, she has cultivated the ability to assess nuanced legal matters, interpret statutory and case law, and contribute meaningfully to case strategy and client advocacy. Her work is marked by attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical understanding of legal processes.

As an Associate Attorney at Joey Jackson Law, Jenell practices criminal defense, where her advocacy skills are most effectively utilized. Drawn to the high stakes and human impact of criminal proceedings, she is committed to protecting the rights of individuals and ensuring that each client receives a thorough, strategic, and compassionate defense. Her experience analyzing complex records, navigating procedural rules, and crafting persuasive arguments positions her to challenge any case and identify critical weaknesses. Jenell approaches criminal defense with both precision and empathy, recognizing the profound consequences these matters carry and dedicating herself to achieving fair and just outcomes for those she represents.

Jenell believes that it is important for her peers to understand the law and their rights, and she has dedicated her career to advocating on their behalf. Jenell is the proud daughter of two retired parents from the Department of Correction, and the first in her family to obtain a law degree.
