Consultant

Herns Mitton, President of Specialized Training and Security Consultants, has teamed-up with JOEY JACKSON LAW to provide his expertise and knowledge as a Consultant. Herns Mitton has over 24 years of Corrections experience as a result of his service with the NYC Department of Corrections (DOC). Herns served as the Assistant Deputy Warden of the Emergency Service Unit (ESU) Training Division and The Training Academy. During his tenure, Herns was responsible for implementing training and developing training curricula regarding Use of Force, Chemical Agents, Facility Response and a host of other tactical and security related training.

Herns was chosen by the Department to train the executive leaders and management staff, including training the Investigation Division, trial attorneys, and the non-uniform staff in the Use of Force Policy. Herns served the Department as Lead Testifier at OATH Proceedings and as subject matter expert. He also revised the Departments facility Response Order, Chemical Agents, and Taser Directives. While being a Certified General Topics instructor by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Herns introduced to the Department the new Chemical Agent. Herns has led training with various law enforcement agencies throughout New York City and the Country.

Herns’ service to the Firm puts us in an exceptional position to defend and protect NYC’s boldest at Disciplinary Hearings at the Office of Administrative Trials & Hearings (OATH). Countless Correction Officers will be able to avoid potential suspensions and termination because of the degree of his knowledge and skill regarding Directives, Policies and Procedures. He will be working with the lawyers at the Firm daily to ensure we have the tools we need to do our jobs in the most effective way possible.
